Christopher Orlando Arrested for $539K Embezzlement

Folsom man charged with multiple financial crimes

NEW ORLEANS, La. — A Folsom-area man was arrested after allegedly embezzling over $500,000 from his employer, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.

Authorities said Christopher Miguel Orlando, 42, carried out multiple fraudulent schemes over several months, ultimately stealing $539,202.35 from a local logistics company. The case began in August 2025, when the business owner discovered an initial loss of approximately $300,000 and contacted law enforcement.

After a five-month investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes and Major Crimes Units, a warrant was issued for Orlando. He surrendered on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, where he was booked on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including:

Felony theft over $25,000 (2 counts)

Felony money laundering over $100,000 (2 counts)

Felony forgery (57 counts)

Felony theft $5,000–$25,000 (2 counts)

Felony bank fraud (8 counts)

Felony access device fraud (8 counts)

Felony illegal transmission of monetary funds (8 counts)

Felony money laundering $3,000–$20,000 (2 counts)

Felony theft $1,000–$5,000 (1 count)

Misdemeanor money laundering <$3,000 (1 count) “This was a deliberate and ongoing betrayal of trust that caused significant financial harm,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “Our detectives conducted an extensive investigation to identify the person responsible and fully account for the money that was stolen.” Orlando’s case is ongoing, and all charges are allegations until proven in court.
