The Jalandhar police have arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 101 grams of heroin from his car, officials said.

According to SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk, Inspector Pushp Bali dispatched a team of CIA personnel under ASI Parvinder Singh to patrol the area from Adampur to Bhogpur. While patrolling via Beas village and Alawalpur from Jand Singha, a white Ertiga with registration PB-01-G-0301 was spotted parked on a link road.

A young man, later identified as Parvez Sidhu, alias Ghoda, a resident of Jalowal under Bhogpur police station, was sitting in the driver’s seat. On seeing the police, he attempted to flee, but the patrol vehicle blocked his path and apprehended him.

A search of his vehicle revealed 101 grams of heroin hidden in the dashboard. An FIR under Sections 21B-61-85 of the NDPS Act was registered at Adampur police station.

Virk stated that Parvez Sidhu supplied heroin in Adampur and Bhogpur after sourcing it at low prices from Hamira and Subhanpur areas of Kapurthala. The accused was produced in court and remanded. Authorities said that all movable and immovable property acquired through his drug trade will be confiscated as per law.
