KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — A trial date has been set for Jacob Fields, 18, who was indicted on a first-degree murder charge following a deadly gas station shooting last May.

The incident occurred at a gas station on MacCorkle Avenue in the Kanawha City area of Charleston. Detectives reported that Fields allegedly waited for Tiffany Adkins to enter his line of fire before shooting her through the front windshield of his vehicle, striking her in the back of the head.

When questioned by police, Fields admitted to pointing the firearm at Adkins, initially claiming he had been cleaning his gun.

In October 2025, Fields was formally charged with first-degree murder, use or presentment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and wanton endangerment.

Fields’ trial is scheduled to begin February 23 at 9 a.m. before Judge Akers in Kanawha County.

All charges remain allegations, and Fields is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
