LEDYARD, CT (WFSB) – Two suspects were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with drug possession following a traffic stop in Ledyard.
At 12:32 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Hillcrest Avenue. During the stop, 39-year-old Rania Salahi from Norwich was found to have two active arrest warrants. Officers also discovered drug paraphernalia hidden on her person.
The driver, 58-year-old Riccio Hope of Gales Ferry, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and was removed from the vehicle. A narcotic-detection K9 was deployed, alerting officers to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed several items of drug paraphernalia, all of which tested positive for illegal narcotics. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Salahi was charged with second-degree failure to appear, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was held on a $2,000 bond for the failure to appear charge and a $600 cash surety bond for the drug-related charges.
Hope was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia and was released on a $600 cash surety bond.
