FARMINGTON, Maine — A Farmington man accused of shooting a woman in the face has been formally indicted on multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, according to court records.
The Sun Journal reports that Gunthar Swan was indicted on charges of attempted murder, domestic violence aggravated assault, and domestic violence assault. Authorities say the incident occurred in June at a residence on Fairbanks Road in Farmington.
Police allege Swan became involved in an argument with the victim before shooting her in the face. A GoFundMe page created on behalf of the victim states that the gunshot shattered her jaw and required doctors to sew her tongue back together.
Investigators also say Swan discarded the firearm into a dining room where an 11-month-old child was sitting in a highchair at the time of the incident.
Swan is currently being held at the Franklin County Detention Center on $500,000 bail.
