Two men from Maharashtra were arrested for defrauding Santosh (33) of Ashok Nagar of Rs 19.9 lakh in a sophisticated cyber scam. The incident began when Santosh received a call from a fraudster posing as a courier firm executive, who claimed that a parcel he had sent contained drugs and expired passports.

The caller then transferred Santosh to another person claiming to be a Mumbai police officer. Under intense pressure, Santosh wired Rs 19.9 lakh to multiple bank accounts as instructed, only realizing later that he had been scammed. He subsequently lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested Naresh Kalyan Rao Shinde (20) and Srikanth Sureshrao Gatkar (34) in connection with the fraud. The case is under further investigation to identify any additional accomplices and trace the funds.
