Investigation into the murder of Bhuvaneshwari, allegedly shot dead by her husband Balamuragan on Magadi Road last month, has revealed that he had hired a habitual offender from Salem, Tamil Nadu, to carry out the crime. Police said Balamuragan paid Rs 1.5 lakh in advance to the man, who has a criminal record including murder and burglary cases.

Authorities have arrested 25-year-old Moulesh Kumar for his alleged role in planning the murder. Although Kumar did not execute the killing, he visited Bengaluru, conducted a recce of the location, and reportedly advised Balamuragan on how to commit the crime in areas without CCTV coverage.

An investigating officer said Balamuragan connected with Kumar while looking for “rowdies” on a social media platform. “Kumar demanded Rs 1.5 lakh, claiming he would shoot the victim, but later delayed and asked for more money. Believing Kumar would not follow through, Balamuragan carried out the murder himself,” the officer explained.

Kumar, who had previously been lodged in Salem prison for a house burglary case, was brought to Bengaluru on a body warrant for further questioning by city police. Investigations are ongoing to determine if Kumar had any other involvement in the crime.
