Sukhvinder Kumar Arrested in Behram for Heroin Possession

6 grams of heroin recovered during police patrol in village

A 36-year-old man, identified as Sukhvinder Kumar, son of Hoshiara Ram and a resident of village Malla Sodhian, was arrested on Wednesday evening in Behram after police allegedly recovered heroin from his possession.

According to police, a team was on routine patrol with official equipment, including a laptop and printer connected to their vehicle, heading from Behram police station towards Malla Sodhian. Around 6:40 pm near the gate of village Jandher Khurd, officers noticed a man approaching from the village side.

On seeing the police vehicle, the man reportedly appeared nervous and attempted to turn back. During the attempt, he allegedly threw a polythene packet into nearby bushes. Suspecting suspicious behavior, police stopped the vehicle and detained him with the help of accompanying staff.

During questioning, the man identified himself as Sukhvinder Kumar. A search of the area led to the recovery of the polythene packet, which contained 6 grams of heroin.

A case was registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Behram police station, and the accused was formally arrested. Police stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution of the narcotics.
