Robert Kemp Arrested in Springfield Narcotics Bust

Man faces multiple drug and firearm charges

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Robert Kemp, 55, of Springfield, was arrested by the Springfield Police Department’s Pro-Active Crime Unit following an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Officers attempted to make contact with Kemp near 4th and Cook streets, but he fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, Kemp was detained without further incident.

Search warrants were obtained for a hotel room and a residence connected to Kemp. During the searches and a search of Kemp’s person, officers recovered approximately 60 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 40 grams of suspected cannabis, and a 9mm pistol.

Kemp faces multiple charges, including manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of firearms without a FOID card, armed habitual criminal, armed violence, and resisting a peace officer.
