Nakodar police have busted a baby trafficking racket and arrested six members, including five women, for allegedly buying and selling newborn babies for huge sums of money. The accused reportedly targeted poor families and sold infants to wealthy couples for lakhs of rupees.

The arrested accused have been identified as Amarjit Kaur of Galibkalan village in Ludhiana, Reena of Bhainni Baga village in Mansa, Kulwindar Kaur of Kussa village in Moga, Gagandeep Kaur of Moga, Rajni of Nigaha Road in Moga, and Baljit Singh of Gholia Khurd village in Moga.

According to police, the gang operated an organised network that facilitated the illegal purchase and sale of newborn babies, exploiting financially vulnerable families. Acting on specific intelligence, Nakodar police conducted raids and apprehended the accused, thereby dismantling the trafficking operation.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law related to human trafficking and illegal adoption, and further investigation is underway to identify buyers, sellers, and any additional accomplices linked to the racket.
