Two people were arrested in Evansville early Friday morning after a reported burglary call led Vanderburgh County deputies to discover evidence of alleged drug dealing, authorities said.
Deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Mission Viejo Apartments in the 5600 block of Calle Las Colinas at approximately 3:37 a.m. During the response, officers found Wyatt Miller, 30, and another man sitting inside a vehicle with its lights on outside the apartment complex.
Miller was detained at the scene. Deputies later learned that a third party had contacted 911 believing Breanna Williams, 29, was the victim of a burglary.
While speaking with Williams inside the apartment, which is leased by both Miller and Williams, deputies reported seeing multiple smoking pipes in plain view. After Miller declined consent for a search, investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment and the vehicle, according to a probable cause affidavit.
During the search, deputies reported finding dozens of smoking pipes throughout the residence, digital scales with residue, and substances that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Additional items included prescription pills identified as alprazolam, hydrocodone, and oxycodone, marijuana, and cash.
Deputies also reported that during a secondary search of Miller before transport, additional suspected methamphetamine was found on his person.
As a result of the investigation, Miller was charged with multiple offenses, including dealing methamphetamine, dealing a Schedule IV substance, possession and dealing of narcotics, possession of marijuana, and dealing paraphernalia.
Williams was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
