JUPITER — Authorities in Jupiter took a man into custody Tuesday afternoon in connection with alleged retail theft and drug possession, according to booking records released by local law enforcement.

The suspect, identified as Sirjames Martin Garrett, was arrested by the Jupiter Police Department on suspicion of petit theft involving merchandise valued between $100 and $750, along with possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis. The arrest was recorded under Report No. 471254 and officially logged at 1:52 p.m. on December 30, 2025.

Public records list Mr. Garrett as a Black male; however, his date of birth was not included in the information made available by authorities.

Officials have not disclosed further details surrounding the alleged theft, including where the incident occurred or the type of property involved. Under Florida law, both petit theft and misdemeanor marijuana possession are common charges that may result in penalties such as fines, probation, or brief jail sentences, depending on case circumstances and prior history.

No additional charges were reported at the time of publication.

All allegations remain unproven. Mr. Garrett is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in a court of law.
