Two accused in a triple murder case were arrested by Gahmar police on Thursday after sustaining bullet injuries during an encounter. Police recovered two country-made pistols and cartridges from the suspects.
According to Ghazipur CO (Jamania) Anil Kumar, Gahmar police station in-charge Inspector Pramod Kumar Singh and his team were on night patrol when an informer tipped them off that some accused in the triple murder case were hiding in an orchard in Bhatpurwa area.
Upon spotting the police, the suspects allegedly opened fire. Police returned fire in self-defense, injuring two men in the legs. The injured were identified as Aman Singh (19) and Arvind Singh (22) of the Gahmar Patti area. Aman sustained bullet injuries in both legs, while Arvind was injured in one leg. They were immediately taken to a local hospital.
The triple murder occurred on the night of December 24, when Vicky Singh, Saurabh Singh, and Ankit Singh were killed during a clash between two groups in Gahmar. The assailants reportedly dumped the bodies in a pond. Two bodies were recovered on December 25, and the third body was found on December 30 after draining the pond.
On the complaint of Vicky Singh’s brother, police registered an FIR against 12 named and several unidentified persons. So far, five accused, including Aman and Arvind, have been arrested in connection with the case. Authorities continue to investigate the remaining suspects.
