LEEDS, Ala. (WBMA) — Leeds Police are investigating a multi-state credit and debit card fraud case after a victim reported more than $12,000 in unauthorized charges.
The report was filed on December 15, 2025, when the victim discovered multiple fraudulent transactions at retailers across Alabama. Leeds Police Special Investigations Unit detectives identified the suspect as Yuan Liu, 48, of San Gabriel, California. Investigators later found that Liu had traveled to Mississippi.
With the help of several law enforcement agencies, including the Ridgeland Police Department in Mississippi, Liu was taken into custody on the evening of December 16, 2025. Authorities discovered thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise inside her vehicle. Investigators say Liu is suspected of using stolen credit and debit cards at high-end retailers across the United States.
Liu remains in custody in Mississippi and is awaiting extradition to Alabama. She faces multiple felony charges in several jurisdictions, with additional charges expected.
Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin praised his team’s efforts, saying, “Criminal activity does not have jurisdictional borders. Our investigators’ dedication ensures that offenders like this are held accountable across state lines.”
