In a significant operation, police in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, seized 190 illegal narcotic tablets during a joint raid conducted with the drug administration department at a medical store in Thanabhawan, officials said on Tuesday.
Circle Officer Jitendra Singh stated that legal action has been initiated against the medical store owner, Prag Bansal, who was taken into custody during the raid conducted on Monday night.
Bansal has been booked under Section 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with cheating, along with relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for the illegal possession and sale of prohibited drugs.
Police said the action is part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal distribution of narcotics and ensure strict compliance with drug control laws in the district. Further investigation is underway to determine the source of the seized tablets and any wider network involved.
