Mallapur, Andhra Pradesh: Nacharam police have arrested Maddhu Anji Babu, 33, for allegedly murdering his landlady, Suredde Sujatha (65), and disposing of her body in the Godavari River. The case, initially reported as a missing person, was quickly upgraded to a murder-for-gain investigation.
Anji Babu was apprehended at Poduladda Junction in Razole mandal, Konaseema district. Police allege that he killed Sujatha at her residence in Baba Nagar, Mallapur, on December 19, 2025. The case was formally registered at Nacharam police station on December 28.
Investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the crime, including the motive and any potential accomplices.
