In Belavalakoppa village, a 66-year-old man, Mardan Mehboob Patil, allegedly lured a 7-year-old girl with mangoes before sexually harassing her on Thursday. After learning about the incident, the victim’s parents lodged a formal complaint.
The Hulaguru police registered an FIR on Saturday under the POCSO Act at Hulaguru police station in Shiggaon taluk. Acting promptly, PSI Parashuram Niroli documented the case and arrested the accused the same evening.
Mardan Mehboob Patil is now in judicial custody as authorities continue their investigation. The police have assured that strict legal action will be taken to protect the minor and deliver justice.
