The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 72-year-old Mrs. Christy Ejaro, a grandmother in Warri, Delta State, for possession of several sachets of skunk cannabis packaged in retail sizes. The arrest took place on June 25 in the Niger CAT area of Delta, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi, confirmed in a statement on Sunday.
In a separate incident, NDLEA operatives intercepted a suspect named Azu at the airport who arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Upon searching his luggage, operatives discovered a liquid soap container marked YPE, which was analyzed at the NDLEA forensic laboratory in Enugu and tested positive for 1.25 kilograms of liquid cocaine. Azu, a toy vendor based in Sao Paulo, claimed he purchased the substance while shopping for his wedding in Nigeria.
Additionally, on June 24, NDLEA operatives at the Seme border in Badagry, Lagos, arrested 26-year-old Beninese national Vode Jean-Luck. He was caught attempting to smuggle 69 balls of skunk cannabis weighing 29.5 kilograms into Nigeria from Benin Republic.
In Kwara State, notorious drug dealer Bolanle Oladele, also known as Iya Nafi, was arrested on June 25 during a raid in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area. Officers recovered various quantities of skunk, tramadol, and flunitrazepam from her possession.
NDLEA Chairman, retired Brigadier General Buba Marwa, commended the officers and men of the Delta, Kwara, and Seme Commands for their successful operations. He also praised the agency’s nationwide efforts to maintain a balance between reducing drug supply and demand.
