In a decisive crackdown on the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested seven drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag, Baramulla, and Kulgam districts, recovering heroin and charas-like substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, two drug peddlers — Mohammad Irfan, a resident of Ghaziabad, UP, and a woman from Bawana JJ Colony, Delhi — were arrested with 6 grams and 3 grams of heroin-like substances respectively. Another notorious woman peddler from Bangidar was caught near Bangidar Bridge with 7 grams of similar substance. Additionally, Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam of Saidwara, Dooru Shahabad, was nabbed with 6 grams of heroin.
In Baramulla, police intercepted two men — Mushtaq Ahmad Waza of Mamoosa Pattan and Abdul Qayoom Parra of Reram Kunzer — at a checkpoint on Hardbani Kunzer Bridge. Waza had 26 grams of contraband and Rs4,000 in cash, while Parra was found with 20 grams of charas-like substance. Both were arrested on the spot.
In Kulgam, during routine patrolling at Mirbazar, police arrested Muneeb Ahmad Bhat of Berigam Qazigund with 302 grams of charas powder.
All accused are in police custody, and cases have been registered under the NDPS Act at the respective police stations. Police reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on drugs and urged the public to report any information regarding drug abuse or trafficking.
