by Sophia Bennett

A $5,000 bond was set on Monday for Janelle Freeman, 19, of Jefferson County, who is accused of being involved in a shooting incident on Friday. Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney made the ruling after prosecutors established probable cause to charge Freeman with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

At approximately 11:35 p.m., police responded to a reported shooting and found a black male who had been shot in the chest. The victim was transported to Jefferson Regional Hospital for treatment.

Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin added that Freeman is on probation in Arkansas following a 2024 conviction for endangering the welfare of a minor. Freeman was told to return to court on June 23.
