5 Arrested in Morigaon for Fake Gold Scam, Including 3 from UP

Fake gold business busted in Morigaon; Rs 49,000, 2.283 kg of fake gold seized.

Five individuals, including three youths from Uttar Pradesh, were arrested in Morigaon district, Assam, for possessing fake gold. The operation took place on Tuesday night when police, acting on a tip-off, raided a hotel and arrested the trio from Uttar Pradesh along with two local men.

The accused, identified as Vishal Kumar, Ajay Kumar, and Balvinder Singh from Uttar Pradesh, were involved in a fake gold racket. Police seized a total of Rs 49,000 in cash and 2.283 kg of counterfeit gold from them.

During further investigation, two more individuals, Abu Hanif and Pinku Kotoki, were arrested in the Amlapatty area. The arrests are part of an ongoing effort to curb the fake gold trade in the region. Authorities are continuing the investigation into the broader network involved in the scam.
