Five youths were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of 42-year-old Sarita Srivastava, who was killed on Saturday night in Sairpur. The police revealed that the murder stemmed from Sarita’s attempt to intervene and stop a group of youths from assaulting hostellers near her home. The main accused, however, remains on the run.
The arrested individuals were identified as Aman Gupta, 21, a BTech student, Kartikeya Dixit alias Anga, 22, Sandeep Singh Chauhan, 26, Mohit Mishra, 25, and Puneet Mishra, 23, all of whom come from different districts. Police confirmed that Aman and Puneet opened fire on Sarita, resulting in her death. A country-made pistol used in the crime was recovered from Puneet’s possession.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) for North Zone, JK Dubey, stated that Chingu alias Ajay alias Shivanshu is the main accused and is currently on the run. The incident has sent shockwaves through the area, highlighting the dangers of violence stemming from seemingly minor altercations.
