The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch arrested a 49-year-old woman, Vandana, on charges of drug trafficking after seizing 100 grams of high-quality heroin worth Rs 20 lakh in the international market. The arrest is part of an ongoing crackdown on drug syndicates operating in the Delhi-NCR region.
According to DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam, the operation began when the Cyber Cell gathered intelligence about an interstate heroin supply network. A key supplier, 36-year-old Sachin, was arrested previously with 601 grams of heroin. During his interrogation, Sachin provided information that led the police to Vandana, who was reportedly one of the main players in the trafficking operation.
To locate Vandana, the Crime Branch formed a special team that utilized both technical surveillance and manual intelligence. This led them to Bhopura, Uttar Pradesh, where Vandana was apprehended.
The police continue to investigate the drug syndicate, working to uncover further connections and dismantle the network.
