MESA, Ariz. — As holiday cards and packages travel across the country ahead of Christmas, some packages are being rerouted illegally at a UPS warehouse in Mesa. Four men have been arrested in connection with a theft operation that spanned over a year.
The suspects have been identified as Bo Arias, Casey Bedell, Jeremy Large, and David Panasci. They are accused of targeting expensive-looking packages filled with electronics and household goods, switching the labels to reroute the deliveries to themselves, and later selling the items.
The theft was discovered at a Mesa UPS warehouse, where the men reportedly operated over the past 12 months. On December 18, the men appeared in court, where the judge explained the serious charges against them, including theft of controlled property, a Class 3 felony. Arias and Panasci are also charged with fraudulent schemes, a Class 2 felony.
UPS officials have refused to comment on the case, citing the ongoing investigation. For customers concerned about stolen packages, experts recommend insuring valuable items to avoid financial loss.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the thefts, and more details may emerge as the case develops.
