Nashik police arrested three men near the Pathardi Phata signal in the Ambad area on Saturday afternoon for allegedly attempting to sell the synthetic drug mephedrone (MD). Officers also recovered a country-made firearm during the operation.
The accused—Gaurav Patil (25), Yogesh Moghe (30), and Vijay Kumavat (23)—were caught in a trap laid beneath the flyover on the Mumbai-Agra highway after police received a tip-off about a potential drug deal. All three are residents of Nashik.
Upon frisking, police found 10 grams of mephedrone worth Rs20,000 and a country-made firearm valued at Rs35,000. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Ambad police station. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further links and potential buyers.
In a separate crackdown the same day, Nashik police busted a hookah lounge operating illegally on Trimbak Road. Officers seized six hookah pots, flavoured tobacco, and other materials valued at over Rs7,000.
Police continue to tighten enforcement on narcotics and unauthorized establishments in the city as part of their anti-drug campaign.
