In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police arrested three men from Bihar in connection with the theft of cash and jewellery worth over Rs4.5 crore from a residence in Model Town. The heist, which took place recently, was allegedly orchestrated by the household’s domestic worker, Arun Kumar, who is still at large.
The case was registered on June 27 after the homeowner reported that Arun Kumar had stolen jewellery worth Rs4.5 crore along with Rs55 lakh in cash. According to DCP (Northwest) Bhisham Singh, CCTV footage from the house revealed Arun Kumar and an unidentified man leaving with a backpack and a trolley bag.
Following the discovery, an investigative team launched a multi-location search across Banka district in Bihar. Police questioned local residents, Arun Kumar’s relatives, and known associates during the course of their probe.
Based on a crucial tip-off, a raid was conducted on July 10 in a forested area of Budhighat village in Banka, leading to the arrest of three suspects:
Vivek Kumar (22)
Birender Yadav (22)
Piyush Kumar Kapri (29)
All three are residents of the Banka district and are believed to be involved in executing the theft. However, the prime accused, Arun Kumar, remains missing. Efforts are ongoing to trace his location.
Police are continuing their investigation and expect further leads to emerge that could help recover the stolen valuables and apprehend the main conspirator.
