Shekhan Majra, Punjab – Three members of a Ludhiana-based gang have been arrested in connection with a violent robbery that took place in Shekhan Majra village in the early hours of September 7.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Gurinder Singh (41), Tejinder Singh alias Prince (39), and Nitesh Kumar (43), all residents of Ludhiana. A fourth accused, Maninder Singh, is currently absconding.
According to the complaint filed by Kulwant Singh, the robbery occurred around 1:15 am when he heard the screams of his son Lakhwinder Singh and his wife. As he rushed to help, he was stopped by a man wielding a dummy pistol and sharp weapons, who threatened him.
The suspects then attacked Lakhwinder Singh with a sickle, inflicting serious injuries to his head and arms. They looted gold ornaments, cash, and other valuables from the house before fleeing the scene.
Lakhwinder was admitted to a Phase-4 hospital, where he has been under treatment for over a week.
Led by CIA incharge Harminder Singh, the Crime Investigation Agency used technical and human intelligence to identify the culprits. The police arrested three suspects and recovered key evidence, including:
Two motorcycles used in the robbery
A sickle and dummy pistol
A gold ring and artificial gold jewellery
A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS):
Sections 115(2), 305, 307, 331(4), 351(2), and 3(5).
Police efforts continue to track down the absconding accused, Maninder Singh.
