A 29-year-old man, Sodiq Ishola, has been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) from the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly attacking a 65-year-old man with a hammer in Lagos.
The assault took place near Pako Bus Stop in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State.
According to a post by RRS on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the suspect was apprehended around 8:30 pm on Monday after he was stopped from causing further harm to his victim. The police revealed that Ishola, along with an accomplice, had followed the victim and his wife from Lagos Island to Iyana Ipaja on a motorcycle before Ishola launched the attack.
The victim sustained serious head injuries before RRS officers, who were on patrol, intervened and arrested the suspect. The victim was promptly rushed to the hospital for treatment, while Ishola was taken to the RRS headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja for further investigation.
