BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Nineteen individuals have been charged in Jefferson County following the unsealing of two related indictments in a large drug trafficking conspiracy, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday.
The defendants, ranging in age from 22 to 70, face charges of conspiracy to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl between February and December 2025. Fifteen of the defendants are also charged with using telephones to facilitate drug-trafficking crimes.
The investigation, led by the FBI, DEA, and local law enforcement agencies, resulted in the seizure of over 30 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Key charges include:
Antonious Somuntez Sanders, Zestra Cartasha Williams, and Annenah Majeed – conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and a substance containing fentanyl; Sanders also charged with 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Hakim Rashad James – conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and other methamphetamine-related substances.
Anthony Martez Harris, Luis Antonio Spano, Geoffrey Lawson, and “Roy” – conspiracy to distribute fentanyl.
Tom Devonte Woods – conspiracy to distribute 5 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Several other defendants face varying conspiracy charges tied to methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution.
The indictments include detailed grand jury findings regarding the amount of drugs attributable to each defendant as part of the conspiracies.
The DOJ says investigations are ongoing, and authorities are continuing efforts to hold all participants accountable.
