A 15-year-old girl who had been missing for nearly a year from Reading, Pennsylvania, was found alive in High Point, North Carolina, police reported.
The teen was discovered Monday at the home of 32-year-old Joseph A. Rossomando, who has been charged with multiple offenses related to her kidnapping and sexual assault.
Authorities say Rossomando possessed child sexual abuse materials and faces 15 charges, including seven counts of statutory sex offense and seven counts of statutory rape of a child under 15. Additional felony charges include human trafficking of a child victim, sexual servitude, second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, first-degree kidnapping, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police received a tip that led to a search warrant at Rossomando’s residence, where they spoke to the victim and confiscated several electronic devices.
Neighbors expressed shock and concern over the case. “It makes you want to get to know your neighbors better and watch out for each other,” one said. Another added, “It’s shocking and disturbing. It makes you want to be more aware of what’s happening around you.”
Rossomando is currently held without bond at Guilford County Jail.
