In a recent operation, Palladam police arrested 14 individuals from a house in Mahalakshmi Nagar after uncovering a gold-plated biscuit scam. The authorities seized several fake gold biscuits during the raid.
The scam involved jewellery brokers Suresh from Erode and Arjun from Pollachi, who were duped into believing that the biscuits were actual gold. These brokers, along with their accomplices, devised a plan to steal the fake gold biscuits from Mariappan (53) of Mahalakshmi Nagar and his associates Karumalai (50) from Theni, and Manivannan (40) and Murugan (43) from Uttamapalayam.
The arrested individuals have been charged with fraud and theft, and the police are continuing their investigation to identify more people connected to the scam.
