The Sector 63 police have successfully arrested 13 individuals, including three women, for running a fraudulent call center that duped manufacturers of lakhs of rupees under the guise of promoting their products on social media and offering distributor connections.
According to DCP Central Noida, Shakti Mohan Awasthi, the police conducted a raid on a call center operating in G-block of Sector 63 based on a tip-off. The arrested individuals were identified as Keshav, Vikas, Ravi, Amit, Pradeep, Avinash, Ashish, Ritesh, Manish, Ritesh, Nidhi, Anjali, and Kritika.
The police seized 10 laptops, two computers, 10 mobile phones, a printer, a cheque book, and several incriminating documents from the call center premises.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that they targeted manufacturers, offering fake promotional services for their products through social media platforms. The scammers also promised to connect victims with distributors, charging hefty fees for these services. Once the victims made the payments, the fraudsters either cut off contact or provided fake distributor leads, ultimately scamming them out of large sums of money.
The gang has reportedly defrauded hundreds of victims, amassing a total of crores of rupees through their fraudulent activities. The police are intensifying their investigation to uncover further details about the network and possible associates of the criminals.
Authorities are examining the digital evidence and financial transactions to determine the full extent of the fraud and track down other potential suspects involved in the scheme. The Noida police have urged victims of similar scams to come forward and report their cases as part of their ongoing efforts to tackle cybercrime and financial fraud in the region.
