In a significant breakthrough, police in Telangana’s Mancherial district have apprehended 12 individuals in connection with a daring robbery that occurred on November 30. The theft involved the stealing of 44 tolas of gold and Rs 15.5 lakh in cash from the residence of a local doctor, Dr. Vijay Babu.
The crime was meticulously planned and carried out by an 11-member gang, led by Durgam Tirupathi from Yellur, Penchikalpet Mandal. According to police officials, the gang included several individuals from different regions, including Ganesh Sudhakar from Maharashtra and Mandavagde Swapna, who worked as an employee at the hospital where Dr. Babu practiced.
The gang took advantage of Dr. Babu’s absence, as he was celebrating his birthday at a hotel at the time. Swapna, an inside accomplice, provided vital information that enabled the group to gain access to the doctor’s home. The burglars, exploiting the situation, managed to rob the house without raising any alarms.
Upon their arrest, the police recovered 35 tolas of the stolen gold, and the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. The remaining stolen items are still being traced. The investigation continues as authorities work to recover the rest of the stolen assets and determine if there are further connections to organized crime networks.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Durgam Tirupathi, Ganesh Sudhakar, Mohammed Nazil, Nazim Baba, Altaf, Syed Sohail, Mohammed Tazeem, Durgam Rajeshwari, Nasreen, Mohammed Naseer, Mohammed Amas, and Mandavagde Swapna.
The police action has successfully dismantled a well-organized gang operating across various parts of the region, making it one of the notable cases of gold theft and burglary in recent months.
