The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch arrested Zishan Majid Memon, a 30-year-old man from Danilimda, on Wednesday for allegedly possessing 1.23 kilograms of mephedrone worth Rs1.23 crore and two country-made pistols worth Rs50,000 at his residence.
Memon, a resident of Shah-e-Alam Society near Zara Flats in Danilimda, had been named in eight cases related to drugs and illegal arms. He had been absconding for the past year in connection with a rash driving incident and a drug sale case, according to Sharad Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police for the City Crime Branch.
“Acting on a specific tip-off, we raided Memon’s residence and apprehended him. We recovered 1.23 kg of mephedrone, two pistols, 48 rounds of ammunition, and 24 spent cartridges. Additionally, we seized Rs18.45 lakh in cash, earned from selling drugs and arms,” said Singhal.
The total value of the seized goods is estimated at Rs1.44 crore. Memon, an alleged drug addict, reportedly sourced both drugs and firearms from associates in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
