Zachary Twachtmann Pleads Guilty in Fatal OWI Crash

SPRINGVILLE, Iowa — A 34-year-old Anamosa man has pleaded guilty to charges of homicide by vehicle and Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) in connection with a deadly crash that occurred on February 7, 2023.

Zachary Twachtmann admitted guilt in a Linn County courtroom on Wednesday for his role in the crash that claimed the life of 46-year-old Dylan Vascik of Springville.

According to investigators, Twachtmann was driving southbound on Springville Road when he collided head-on with Vascik’s northbound vehicle. Vascik died at the scene.

A female passenger in Twachtmann’s car sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Sentencing details have not yet been released, and Twachtmann remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
