Zacarias Fasil Arrested for Identity Theft at Delaware Bank

WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police arrested Zacarias Fasil, 20, of Philadelphia, PA, on identity theft and fraud charges after he attempted to open a bank account using stolen personal information.

On August 12, 2024, at 12:35 p.m., troopers responded to Citizens Bank on Naamans Road following a fraud report. Bank employees recognized Fasil from previous fraudulent attempts at multiple Citizens Bank locations in New Jersey.

Authorities say Fasil used documents belonging to a 26-year-old victim while trying to open the account. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 1, where he was charged with:

Identity Theft (Felony)
Possession of Instruments Facilitating Identity Theft (Felony) – 4 counts
Fasil was arraigned and released on a $6,500 unsecured bond.
