Yeovil Man Arrested for Stealing and Cloning Vehicles in Poundbury

A man from Yeovil has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a vehicle from Poundbury and cloning its license plates. The suspect, aged 33, was apprehended after officers detected a potentially cloned vehicle in Sherborne and stopped it in Coldharbour on the evening of November 5, 2024.

The man faces multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, theft of two sets of number plates, driving without a license, and driving without insurance. The stolen vehicle from Poundbury will be returned to its rightful owner.

In a separate incident, Dorset Police also discovered another vehicle with false plates while patrolling Upwey. This vehicle was stolen from Cerne Abbas and will also be returned to its owner.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police explained that the Neighbourhood Team is continuing to investigate recent vehicle crimes and is exploring several leads. The suspect has been released under investigation while inquiries continue. Police encourage the public to report any concerns to help direct patrols and take appropriate action.
