Yasir Khan Jailed for Smuggling Firearms from Pakistan to UK

A Birmingham man, Yasir Khan, 40, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to smuggle firearm parts from Pakistan to the UK in a 1976 Datsun Sunny, the National Crime Agency (NCA) confirmed on Friday.

Smuggling Attempt & Arrest
Authorities discovered 72 gun components, including 36 top slides and 36 barrels for 9mm Glock pistols, hidden inside the imported vehicle. The NCA launched an investigation after intercepting the shipment, leading to Khan’s arrest in July 2023.

During the probe, voice notes on Khan’s phone provided evidence of direct contact with a Pakistani firearms supplier. Further investigations suggested he was involved in a similar smuggling attempt in November 2023.

Illegal Firearms Trade
The NCA also revealed that Khan had purchased deactivated firearms in 2023, which he was allegedly modifying into fully functional lethal weapons.

Sentencing & Raid Footage
Khan pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court. The NCA shared a video of armed officers arresting him, showing him being detained in a car and handcuffed.

Authorities continue to crack down on illegal gun smuggling, warning that firearms trafficking poses a serious threat to public safety in the UK.
