Yadram Singh Killed in Schenectady Home Invasion Attempt

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Police in Schenectady have provided an update in a fatal shooting that occurred during an attempted home invasion on Hamburg Street last week.

On April 24 just before 1 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire at 1834 Hamburg Street. Upon arrival, they found Yadram Singh, 28, of Schenectady, deceased from a gunshot wound.

Following an investigation, detectives determined that Singh was allegedly attempting to break into the home with a weapon when he was shot and killed by the resident, Marc Cunningham, 25.

While the shooting appeared to be in response to the invasion, police discovered that Cunningham’s firearm was not legally owned. As a result, he has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

The case remains under investigation as authorities examine both the circumstances of the home invasion and the legality of the firearm involved.
