The Lynchburg Police Department arrested Woodson Ferguson, 37, after a standoff at a residence on Lorraine Street Monday night. Officers responded to a domestic violence call just after 10:30 p.m. Upon investigation, they discovered Ferguson inside the home and learned he had three outstanding warrants. Police also determined that Ferguson was armed with a handgun.
Following a brief standoff, Ferguson was taken into custody without incident. A handgun was recovered during a search of the residence. Ferguson now faces multiple charges, including simple assault, assault and battery, failing to appear after being charged with felony or misdemeanor offenses, contributing to the delinquency or abuse of a child, and distribution of synthetic cannabinoids to an inmate.
Additionally, Ferguson faces charges for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The arrest follows ongoing efforts by the Lynchburg Police to address violent crime and domestic incidents in the area.
