Woodridge Man Arrested for Multiple Charges, Including Retail Theft

Joshua B. Kurtz of Woodridge is facing serious charges following his arrest on October 30 at approximately 12:16 p.m. in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. He is accused of felony retail theft, felony aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports, loss prevention staff at a retail store confronted Kurtz after he attempted to steal several items of clothing. During the altercation, Kurtz engaged in a physical struggle with the staff. When police officers arrived on the scene, Kurtz allegedly struck them and resisted their attempts to take him into custody.

Once apprehended, officers searched Kurtz and discovered a pipe containing residue. He admitted to using the pipe to smoke crack cocaine. Further investigation revealed that Kurtz had an active arrest warrant from Lake County for probation violations stemming from previous theft charges.

Kurtz has been assigned a court date of October 31 to address the charges against him.
