Montgomery Township, Pa. — A 52-year-old woman, Gail Espinosa Pflugbeil, has been arrested and faces multiple charges related to identity theft and fraud after attempting to access $2,000 from a 65-year-old woman’s account.
On June 21, 2023, Pflugbeil entered TruMark Financial Credit Union in Montgomery Township, attempting to withdraw the funds using a counterfeit driver’s license. The branch manager noticed discrepancies, and after reviewing similar attempts made at other local branches, contacted authorities.
Pflugbeil was confronted, and upon a search, police found a Visa debit card issued to the victim. Pflugbeil later admitted that she knew her actions were wrong but was trying to access funds due to her homeless situation.
She faces felony charges of use of a counterfeit access device, forgery, and identity theft, as well as misdemeanor theft charges. Pflugbeil was released on $25,000 unsecured bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 9.
