Woman Arrested in Prakasam for Robbing Elderly, Accused of Nine Thefts

In a significant breakthrough, Prakasam police arrested Ganta Elishamma, also known as Nandam Sujatha, on January 22 for allegedly robbing elderly women after drugging them with soft drinks laced with sedatives. Elishamma, a resident of Devarampadu village, is accused of being involved in nine thefts and two murders.

Prakasam Superintendent of Police (SP), A.R. Damodar, revealed that Elishamma would often attend wedding receptions and other social events uninvited. She targeted elderly women, befriending them and, once she learned they were home alone, would exchange phone numbers. She would later visit the women, offer them drinks laced with sedatives, and rob them once they had been rendered unconscious.

The police have launched further investigations to determine the full extent of Elishamma’s criminal activities, as she is believed to have been active in the area for a prolonged period. Her arrest is expected to bring closure to several unsolved cases of theft and violence.
