Woman Arrested in Marriage Scam Targeting Bakery Owner

A woman from Kodumudi in Erode was arrested in Tirupur on Sunday for defrauding a bakery owner in a marriage scam. The victim, a 30-year-old bakery owner from Dharapuram, met the 30-year-old fraudster, Sathya, through a matchmaking app.

Sathya, who has a history of conning, typically disappears with jewels and valuables shortly after the wedding. To execute her scheme, she convinced the bakery owner to have a simple wedding ceremony without inviting her family, claiming her parents were arranging a marriage with someone else.

Just days after the marriage, the groom grew suspicious of Sathya due to her frequent phone calls with other men.
