A woman working as a house help has been arrested for stealing jewelry and cash from her employer’s house in Sector 4. The accused, identified as Manisha, was caught after a thorough investigation and recovery of stolen items, including gold jewelry and expensive, branded clothes.
The incident came to light on January 13, when Aisleen Kaur and her husband, Karan Sayal, filed a complaint after discovering their jewelry box had been broken into and valuables worth a significant amount were missing. They reported the theft occurred on January 9.
Following the complaint, the police registered a theft case and launched an investigation, involving a forensic team to take fingerprints and questioning staff members at the house. The complainants pointed suspicion at their house help, Manisha, who had been working for them and preparing meals at their residence. Based on the suspicion, the police interrogated Manisha, leading to her arrest after it became clear she was involved in the crime.
Manisha, a resident of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh, had been living in a rented house in Mani Majra. After her arrest, the police recovered a range of stolen items, including a gold bangle, a pair of earrings, a gold ring, a gold set, a gold and diamond bracelet, a gold necklace, and branded clothes and shoes worth lakhs of rupees.
The woman was produced in court and remanded to one-day police custody before being sent to judicial custody.
