Woman Arrested for Duping Job Seekers in Muvattupuzha Over Fake Visas

A woman has been arrested by the Muvattupuzha police for allegedly scamming job seekers by offering fake work visas for overseas employment. Shiny Mathew, a 49-year-old resident of Avoli in Muvattupuzha, is accused of deceiving two individuals and fraudulently collecting over Rs6 lakh in total.

According to the police, Mathew promised one job aspirant a work visa for a supermarket job in Germany and collected a sum of Rs4.38 lakh. She also assured another job seeker a position in Singapore, for which she allegedly took Rs2 lakh. However, the promised visas never materialized, and both individuals realized they had been duped.

The Muvattupuzha police arrested Mathew following complaints filed by the victims. The police are further investigating the case to determine if there are more individuals involved in similar fraudulent activities. Mathew’s arrest has raised concerns about the rising number of scams targeting job seekers in the region.
