CHICAGO, IL — A woman already facing charges for multiple shoplifting incidents has been arrested again, this time for five additional retail theft cases dating back to 2023. Tuhan “Amanda” Waller, 53, is now facing five felony counts of retail theft after stealing merchandise from various stores across Chicago.
Waller was caught on surveillance footage in June 2023, stealing five purses worth approximately $750 from a TJ Maxx store located on North Clark Street. She is also accused of stealing $750 worth of travel-sized fragrances from an Ulta beauty store on November 5, 2023.
Earlier in the year, on January 12, 2023, Waller allegedly took nine purses and a pair of gym shoes valued at over $1,100 from a Marshall’s department store. Just four days later, she reportedly stole eight coats, seven fragrances, and several purses, totaling over $1,000, from another Marshall’s location on North Clark Street.
Additionally, on May 11, 2023, Waller is accused of stealing five handbags worth more than $150 from a TJ Maxx store on North Michigan Avenue.
At the time of her arrest, Waller had recently appeared in court for three previous theft charges. In November, she pleaded guilty to felony retail theft charges related to other thefts at Walgreens, Burlington, and Ulta, and was sentenced to two days in jail and two years of mental health probation.
Waller was arrested on the new charges on Tuesday, following a court hearing for her earlier theft cases. She is scheduled for her first court appearance on the new charges this Wednesday.
