Wilmington Man Rakim Huggins Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges

WILMINGTON, DE — Rakim Huggins, 35, of Wilmington, was arrested by the Wilmington Police Department on February 14, 2025, after being caught with drugs and cash in a vehicle stop near West 8th and North Monroe Streets.

Officers from the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division noticed suspected drug activity in the area and conducted a vehicle stop at around 11:37 a.m. Huggins, who had an outstanding warrant for an unrelated matter, was taken into custody without incident.

A search of Huggins’ person and vehicle led to the discovery of 4.17 grams of crack cocaine, 16.68 grams of heroin, and $5,264 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Huggins faces several charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity, Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity.

Following his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Huggins was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. He remains in custody as legal proceedings continue. Authorities remind that all charges are allegations, and Huggins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
