Bryan, Texas — William Tyler Noonan, a College Station man with a prior conviction for domestic violence, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after a series of violent assaults against his girlfriend.
Noonan, 25, was arrested on June 29, 2023, following a call from the victim’s family, who were concerned about her safety. When College Station Police arrived at the scene, the victim was hesitant to speak, despite visible bruises on her body. Eventually, she shared details of the abuse, revealing that she had been assaulted by Noonan multiple times in the days leading up to the call. The victim also described being strangled, smothered with a pillow, hit, kicked, thrown to the ground, bitten, and stomped on over the span of four days.
After the assault, Noonan continued searching for the victim at his apartment complex but was apprehended by authorities. He faced charges including Assault Family Violence Strangulation/Impeding Breath, two counts of Assault Family Violence with a Previous Conviction, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Before the trial began, Noonan changed his plea to guilty, sparing the victim from having to testify in court. During the investigation, prosecutors identified a third victim who had also been abused by Noonan. He had been previously convicted of family violence after assaulting a former girlfriend, and he had served time for Harassment of a Public Servant, Evading Arrest, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On February 10, Noonan was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Assistant District Attorney Ryan Golden emphasized the strength it takes for victims to come forward and seek help, stating, “Love should never hurt, and we will continue to hold accountable those who hurt the people they claim to love.”
