Wichita Falls Police report that notorious shoplifters Chelsea Hoyt and Tina Crump are once again facing charges after a series of recent thefts from local stores. Known to area merchants for their coordinated shoplifting tactics, Hoyt and Crump have a history of working together to distract employees and steal merchandise, leading to multiple arrests over the years.
Hoyt, arrested again on November 7, 2024, is accused of stealing $463 worth of clothing from Old Navy in October with an accomplice. She faces an additional charge for a September theft at Berend Brothers, where she and Crump allegedly stole an Echo chainsaw, using their signature tactic of one person distracting staff while the other shoplifts. The chainsaw was later recovered after a resident, who purchased it from Hoyt outside a Walmart, became suspicious and alerted authorities.
Both women were arrested on October 17, 2024, when an employee at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet recognized them from local Crime Stoppers photos. Hoyt initially denied her identity, claiming her name was “Chanelle,” but officers confirmed her identity through mugshots.
Hoyt, who served a 9-month sentence last year, has 16 recorded arrests, while Crump, previously sentenced to two years in 2022, has 22. The two have been linked to shoplifting cases since at least 2020 and were banned from all Walmart stores several years ago.
Hoyt is currently jailed on a $15,000 bond, while Crump is free on a $35,000 bond following her October 17 arrest. Both face numerous charges related to theft and criminal trespassing in the Wichita Falls area.
